Short: IRC client with TLS and three networks Author: Johannes Naumanen Uploader: xmies live com (Johannes Naumanen) Type: comm/irc Version: 0.8.1 Requires: 68020+, TCP/IP stack, Fast RAM; see below Architecture: m68k-amigaos >= 3.0 Apartee 0.8.1 - IRC for classic Amiga ================================== Apartee is a native IRC client with a colourful, keyboard-friendly interface in its own Intuition window and screen. Networks and channels are listed on the left, conversations in the middle and nicknames on the right. It can be started directly from Workbench. This is a public test release on the way to version 1.0. FEATURES - Up to three simultaneous IRC networks with separate nicknames. - Channels and private queries, with F1-F10 buffer selection. - Click a nickname to open a query; close it with the mouse. - Saved Mentions view for messages mentioning your nickname. - Automatic server PING replies and CTCP VERSION, PING and TIME. - TLS 1.2/1.3 through AmiSSL, with certificate and hostname checks. - Automatic reconnection and channel rejoining after connection loss. - Save servers, channels, nicknames and layout as startup defaults. - Mouse text selection and standard Amiga clipboard copy/paste. - UTF-8/Latin-1 conversion, including Scandinavian characters. - Scroll conversations with Ctrl-Up/Down and nicknames with Alt-Up/Down. - Workbench icons using the MagicWB palette. - Installer script supporting fresh installations and updates while preserving saved settings and mentions. REQUIREMENTS - Motorola 68020 or compatible newer processor. No FPU required. - AmigaOS 3.0 or newer. - A running TCP/IP stack providing bsdsocket.library version 4. - Budget 4 MB free Fast RAM for plain IRC with up to three networks. For TLS, 8 MB free Fast RAM or more is recommended. - Budget 512 KB free Chip RAM for typical 640x256/640x512 modes. Larger screen modes need more display memory. - HiRes display recommended. - Amiga Installer 43.3 or newer for the supplied installation script. Manual installation is also supported. - Optional encryption: AmiSSL 5.27+ for AmigaOS 3, CA certificates and a correctly set system date and time. The memory figures are conservative test-build budgets, not measured absolute minimums. They refer to memory available after Workbench, the TCP/IP stack and other applications have loaded. Developed and tested on an Amiga A1200 with ACA1221lc and AmigaOS 3.2.3. That specific computer and accelerator are not requirements. No MUI, FPU or ixemul.library is required. AmiSSL and Installer are not included in this archive. INSTALLATION Extract the archive and open the Apartee drawer. Close any running Apartee, then double-click Install. Select a destination drawer; for an update, select your existing Apartee drawer. After installation, double-click Apartee. The first-run connection form lets you enter a server, port, nickname and channels. Saved connections can be restored automatically on the next launch. Use /help for commands and /save to save your current defaults. See README-Amiga.txt for full instructions and Testing.txt for tests and information to include when reporting problems. NOTES This pre-1.0 release does not include SASL authentication, DCC transfers or full conversation logging. Characters outside Latin-1, including emoji, are displayed as question marks. TLS encrypts the connection to the IRC server. Saved settings and mentions are local plain-text files; saved channel keys are not password-encrypted. Failed TLS verification never falls back to an unencrypted connection. VERSION 0.8.1 - Narrower nickname panel gives more room to conversations. - Installer, English documentation and testing instructions. - Shortened Installer text for small Workbench screens. - User-approved MagicWB drawer, application and Installer icons. - Application and drawer consistently named Apartee.
