Short: Telnet daemon for AmiTCP: shell over LAN Author: mail@toranders.com (Tor Anders Johansen) Uploader: mail toranders com (Tor Anders Johansen) Type: comm/tcp Version: 0.4.8 Architecture: m68k-amigaos >= 2.0.4 Distribution: Aminet Description: A standalone telnet daemon for AmigaOS 2.04+ with AmiTCP (or any stack that provides bsdsocket.library). Connect from any telnet client on your LAN and get an interactive AmigaDOS shell with working command execution and output. Hardware-validated on an A500 (68000) with AmiTCP_NG 4.1.7. Two binaries are included: telnetd - 68000 (stock machines) telnetd.020 - 68020/030/040/060 accelerators (compile-verified) Usage: 1> stack 20000 1> run C:telnetd [PORT ] [LOG ] LOG= writes a crash-surviving forensic trail to any path. Handles the Telnet negotiation burst sent by real clients (macOS, Linux), serves ACTION_DISK_INFO console probes so pagers such as More work, detects disconnects instantly even while a command runs, and tears sessions down cleanly. Known limitations: - One connection at a time; reconnect after a disconnect takes a few seconds (~7.6s measured) - Each disconnected session leaves one idle shell process behind until the next reboot - Full-screen/raw console tools and GUI programs (ed, edit on many setups) are not usable over telnet - No authentication, plaintext: LAN use only, never forward this port to the internet Architecture follows the approach of telnetd 2.0 (Peter Simons & Steve Holland, 1995), reimplemented for AmiTCP_NG. No code from the GPLv2 original is used. MIT license, source available: https://github.com/toralux/amiga-telnetd
