Short: 2 Amigaguide docs that CRASH a v40 Amiga Author: cs922097@ariel.cs.yorku.ca (David Zvekic) Uploader: cs922097 ariel cs yorku ca (David Zvekic) Type: text/hyper Architecture: m68k-amigaos long: I've just recently discovered a serious bug in v40 (OS 3.1) of amigaguide.datatype. There are 2 amigaguide files in this archive that will cause various problems on an amiga with v40 of amigaguide.datatype. One simply hangs my computer. The other causes severe memory corruption. v39 seems to have no trouble with them. I'm only releasing these files so hopefully someone at Amiga Technologies - ESCOM takes note and fixes these bugs. The bugs have to do with a confusing line in the documents. v39 apparently deals with these confusing lines by recognizing they are invalid and ignoring what it can't deal with. v40 seems to break the entire system. IF you look at these amigaguide files make sure you aren't doing anything important. They will crash your machine. If you aren't using v40 you are probably safe although I can't guarantee anything. It is a pity that v40 has this bug because v40 is faster than v39, has more features and is otherwise nicer. Wish List: 1: I hope ESCOM fixes this bug! PLEASE PLEASE 2: Amigaguide should go back to making link buttons the size they USED to be in v39. v40 links are 1/2 a character narrower. Making it impossible to line up rows of links with text or each other sometimes. The v39 links are wider but at least are a whole number of characters wide, in v40 every link is x.5 characters wide. (where x is the number of characters in a link name). This is terrible! If you try to line up a row with 3 links to a row with 2 links and try to line up the links within the row. You CAN'T!
