Short: MegaDrive controller test for ZZPicoDrive Author: Xanxi Uploader: Hakim Hassani Type: util/misc Version: 1.0 Requires: AmigaOS 3.x Architecture: m68k-amigaos >= 3.0 ZZMDPadTest 1.0 --------------- ZZMDPadTest is a Mega Drive / Genesis controller test utility for ZZPicoDrive. It is meant to help users check their joystick / gamepad setup before running the Genesis / Mega Drive edition of ZZPicoDrive. Purpose ------- This is a small companion utility for ZZPicoDrive. It is not an emulator. It helps users check which DB9 joystick, CD32-style pad or lowlevel.library controller inputs are actually seen by AmigaOS before starting ZZPicoDrive. This is useful because different Amiga joystick adapters, USB stacks, CD32 pads and lowlevel.library implementations may expose buttons in different ways. This utility does not test the keyboard. No Sega ROMs are included or required. How it works ------------ ZZMDPadTest displays a Mega Drive style controller drawing. When a direction or button is detected, the corresponding indicator lights up in green above the controller drawing. This makes it easy to check that the expected directions and buttons are seen by AmigaOS. Input methods ------------- DB9 joystick Tests standard Amiga joystick ports through the DB9 input mode. CD32 / USB controllers through lowlevel.library Tests CD32-style pads and compatible USB controllers when supported by the user's lowlevel.library setup. Two-player setups The utility can be used to check player 1 and player 2 input sources before selecting them in ZZPicoDrive. Notes ----- ZZMDPadTest is provided as a helper tool for ZZPicoDriveMD. It does not require a Mega Drive ROM and does not run any game. If a controller does not react in ZZMDPadTest, it is unlikely to work correctly in ZZPicoDrive until the input mode or adapter setup is fixed. Credits ------- ZZMDPadTest was written by Xanxi as part of the ZZPicoDrive project.
