CLOANTO PERSONAL FONTS MAKER
Personal Fonts Maker is a powerful tool for designing and processing
bitmapped fonts. Amiga fonts and fonts created with Personal Fonts Maker
can be transferred to the printer memory and printed at maximum quality
and speed. Personal Fonts Maker can output fonts in formats which can be
read by other Amiga programs, by other computers and by a vast range of
differing printers (even 48-pin and laser printers). The program can
import graphics. It is possible, for example, to work on typographical
fonts input from a scanning device. Complex and/or repetitive
transformations on characters or entire fonts can be defined, recorded,
stored and executed as macros. A special programming language can be used
to define the format in which fonts are to be saved or sent to a printer.
The Personal Fonts Maker package includes a multitude of original fonts
and support tools like Printer Driver Modifier, which allows the user to
personalize printer drivers. The manual is full of examples and
introductory sections for novice users, and comes complete with technical
information for Amiga experts.
POST SCRIPTUM
The evolution of monochrome bitmapped fonts slowed down several years ago,
in favor of vector fonts. Most of the recent and new applications of
bitmapped fonts are related to multicolored fonts. Similarly, while we
created new and powerful tools to edit color fonts, at Cloanto we
terminated the development of the original Personal Fonts Maker package.
This means that the user interface is not, esthetically, up to the newest
standards. The software, however, has no known bugs, and is fully
compatible with all versions of the Amiga operating system. Because of the
wealth of absolutely unique features provided by this software (it was
even used by some printer manufacturers), we believe that it may still be
very helpful in projects involving bitmapped fonts.
CLOANTO PRINTER DRIVER MODIFIER
Printer Driver Modifier is a utility to edit the text mode functions of
Amiga printer drivers.
The software gives the user full access to any driver's conversion tables
for characters having a code greater than 127 as well as for control
sequences. Printer Driver Modifier can be used to modify existing control
sequences of the printer driver, or add new ones. Switches to national
7-bit character sets to print a character can be replaced with a single
8-bit character code. The same can be done with those characters in the
set available on the printer which are represented by the driver as a
series of partial character images and backspaces. If a character is not
available on the printer, it can be downloaded with Personal Fonts Maker,
and the printer driver can be updated with Printer Driver Modifier so that
the new character is translated correctly. If a character cannot be
downloaded because the printer being used does not accept the downloading
of character having codes greater than 127, a new code (smaller than 128)
can be assigned to the character, both in the downloaded font (with
Personal Fonts Maker) and in the printer driver (with Printer Driver
Modifier).

This archive contains a complimentary edition of the English versions of
Personal Fonts Maker and Printer Driver Modifier programs, for exclusive
distribution through the Aminet and Meeting Pearls internet and CD-ROM
collections. These are the full and latest commercial versions (not
demonstration versions), as they were intended to appear on a possible new
version of The Kara Collection.
