LHA_HD_Install (C) 2006 Lorence Lombardo
LHA_HD_Install is a floppy to hard disk installation package which I put
together many years ago, which I have finally decided to release.
It has been designed to work on OS versions "1.x" to "3.x" and it will
probably work on "OS4" and "MOS" having CatWeasels.
It could also be modified to be used with other media such as CD or DVD
rom drive instead of a floppy drive.
OS 1.x Problems:
Unfortunately the LHA with multi-volume support that works
on 1.x systems and all other Amiga systems requires you to
be a registered user and I can not supply you with the
required version. This script was tested on a friends
A500-HD with LHA version 1.75 registered many years ago.
Has the status of this LHA changed ? Perhaps "Jim Cooper"
or who ever is holding the current LHA amiga source can
compile a freeware version which works on all amiga systems.
The freeware version of LHA included in this package
requires OS2.x or higher. LHx wont work either.
Before I begin to explain how to use this package it is suggested that you
have LHA configured in your directory utility with multi-volume support.
I have the following line in my DiskMaster configuration:-
AddMenu Archives, Lha Add volume, StdIO "CON:0/12/640/100/Lha Add Window";Archive "CC:Lha <* a -rVa ";StdIO CLOSE
You may wish to adapt that to DOPUS if that is what you use.
If you wanted to make this script work with CatWeasel and classic systems
you would need to format all of your floppy's with the same volume name and
replace all occurances of "DF0:" to that volume name in the "Install2" and
"Install3" script files.
For the purpose of this explination we will pretend we are using a classic
system with "DF0:".
Steps:-
1. Extract the contents of this archive to a blank disk in "DF0:".
2. Edit the scripts "Install2" and "Install3" on "DF0:" to suit your needs
if you need to do so.
3. Tag your game or applications directory and directory icon with your
directory utility. Then with your directory utility archive your
selection to "DF0:multi" using multi-volume mode. You might even wish
to physically label and mark your disks through this process.
eg. Disk1, Disk2, Disk3, etc.......
4. You may optionally wish to test your HD install. Insert "Disk1" and click
on the disk icon and then click on the "Installer" icon. :)
The end...!!!
CYA...:)
Feeling bored ? :)
