This is a small collection of old programs!
WHAT YOU WON'T FIND HERE:
- anything absolute crunched. I don't let any absolute programs in this
pack at all! See pack/README for more of my opinions on this!
- packed programs, I decrunched every file except TitanCrunch (22k -> 100k!)
- 100s of old SoundTracker rippers
- 100s of programs doing the same thing (see above)
- Virus Checkers/Killers (which are so old they are more dangerous to
have than a virus)
- viruses (I virus checked them all with Virus Checker 7.18)
- documentation (apart from my READMEs in each dir)
- system files from commodore
- pointless programs (like 1 that just prints some pointless text about
another pack, another disk I found an INSTALLER for a utility that wasn't
there)
- _seriously_ out of date things
WHAT YOU WILL FIND HERE:
- almost exactly 1 FFS disk of files!
- a lot of files dated "01-Apr-97" :)
- The old 'leaders of the pack'
- some real gems that are really useful and still work today
- some programs that would be cool if only they would work without degrading
- a lot of silly packing programs
The thing is set out like aminet, but only 1 dir deep.
Each dir has a README file in it with descriptions.
Note: when I say "GUI", I mean intuition based GUI.
A program without the word GUI means it is either a CLI command or uses a
hardware screen.
And note well - even if it *does* have an intuition screen, it doesn't mean
that it's safe to use!
**** IMPORTANT! ****
NONE of these programs are guaranteed to be safe! Save EVERYTHING you are
doing before you run these. Also note that many will not work if they are
not run of a newly booted disk, ie not after your normal startup-sequence
with SetPatch, IPrefs etc has run. A lot are designed to be part of a disk
booting sequence, and may not run on HD.
