I've done a quick port of Shorten-3.6.0 from the linux sources available at
http://www.etree.org

shorten -h     (for command line help)
shorten -x     (to extract .shns to .wav format)  

Shorten (.shn) is an audio compression scheme that is used to compress audio
(.wav) files losslessly. This means that after you decompress a shorten file,
everything that was in the original .wav is there in the .shn format. This is
unlike mp3, in which the compression step throws away information that can never
be recovered. Many music websites (particularly jambands and artists who allow
their music to be freely traded) utilize this format such as:
