Combustion Engine animation--Copyright © 1995 Henry Norman.
This is a 30-frame 2D IFF animation, showing the inner workings of
a four-stroke internal combustion engine. I made it primarily to
show my son the principles of how the combustion engine works. To
view it, use any IFF/ILBM anim capable player (animplayer, DMII,
MainView (preferred), etc).
When viewed with MainActor's MainView program, the animation runs
with sound ;). Turn caching on. On my A4000/40, a suitable speed
is F4, which seems to be about 24 frames/sec (F1 is way too fast).
I haven't tried it on a slower Amiga, but I'd guess that F1 would
be fine on a stock 2000. If you don't have MainActor, you really
should check it out. MainActor1_55.lha is available on aminet, in
pub/amiga/gfx/edit. Before running the MainView program, enter:
ASSIGN MAS: <volume>:<dir>/Sounds
Where <volume> and <dir> is where you chose to place the Sounds
directory from this archive.
The engine was handcrafted using DeLuxe Paint IV. The sounds were
lifted from somewhere, then mangled with SunRize AD512, and finally
converted to 8SVX (needed by MainView) with PerfectSound.
Freely distributable for your viewing pleasure, but with exception
of PD collections (including AmiNet CDs, of course), don't include
the engine with any commercial package without my permission. I'm
reachable via strix@hotcity.com, strix@cup.portal.com, or at work,
norman_h*@tandem.com (Tandem NonStop Systems).
Thanks to HotHead and Lumpy at HotCity and Harv Laser at Portal:
the services you guys provide are great. Let's all hope that the
fledgling Amiga Technologies manages to finally give the Amiga the
market share it deserves...
I hope you enjoy the engine!
Henry Norman
