Why would you want this? Well, if anything like me,
you have been having trouble snapshot-ing icons in
Workbench 3.1.4 when you select the 'backdrop' option
for your Workbench. I tried all permutations to save
the icon X and Y locations, but they always got trampled
by something. I created this program (ForceIconMove) to
forcefully re-set the icons to the locations I want them
to be in. I run this in WBStartup with a resource file.
You can get the usage information by just running: fim ?
This program probably works with AmigaOS version < 3.0
but it is only intended as a work-around for an issue
with 3.1.4 that others might be facing. This program is
a hack and hopefully you will never need to use it.
Snapshort-ing Ram Disk is not currently supported in
this version.
In general:
- Get your icons in position on your workbench
- Snapshot those icons
- Extract this archive anywhere
- Run 'fim Workbench: Work: Games:'; Your volumes will
- probably differ
- Copy the created RAM:ForceIconMove.res file to
SYS:WBStartup
- Copy 'fim' and 'fim.info' to SYS:WBStartup
- Recommend adding 'DONOTWAIT' to the FIM tooltype in
WBStartup
- Be aware of icon positional clashes. You may need to
duplicate entries to move icons out of the way
first. Run 'fim ?' for an example
