JMRI Controller turns your Amiga into a throttle and decoder programmer
for a DCC model railroad. It talks to JMRI (www.jmri.org) on another
computer, through JMRI's Web Server (WebSocket, port 12080) or its JSON
Server (port 2056). It can also drive a DCC-EX command station (an
Arduino with a motor shield, dcc-ex.com) directly, without JMRI and
without a PC: on the Amiga's serial port or over WiFi/Ethernet.
This is a beta version. It was not yet tested on many real Amigas and
layouts; DCC-EX on the serial port in particular needs reports from
real hardware. Please send problem reports, with the messages from the
Log page, to the address above.
Features
--------
- Roster: all locomotives with every detail JMRI keeps - road, model,
decoder, owner, groups, operating duration, last operated, function
names, comment, custom attributes - and the locomotive's photo and
icon. Roster group filter, selectable and sortable columns as in
JMRI, double-click a photo for a large picture window.
- Up to 12 locomotives at once. A banner shows the loco's photo with
its name and address; speed slider in percent of the loco's maximum
speed, step buttons, direction, emergency stop.
- Functions F0-F28 named as in the roster; momentary functions (horn)
only stay on while held. Bubble help shows the full names.
- STOP ALL and track power in the status bar.
- Turnouts, routes, sensors and lights with live states; fast clock.
- Decoder programming on the programming track or on the main (POM):
any CV with bit editor, motor CVs, CV29, short/long address, speed
table (CV67-94) with curves, CV lists with load/save, decoder
identification (NMRA manufacturer list) and factory reset. All
through a queue with timeouts.
- Photos are decoded with your datatypes, or with the built-in
JPEG/PNG/GIF/BMP decoder when there is none; dithered to the screen.
- Event and protocol log; settings saved in the program's drawer.
- Keyboard shortcuts for driving, Right Amiga 1-6 for the pages, HELP
for the AmigaGuide manual.
- Runs on any 68000 with Kickstart 3.0 and MUI 3.1; no FPU needed.
The window fits a 640x256 screen.
Requirements
------------
- AmigaOS 3.0+, MUI 3.1+ (or Zune on AROS)
- JMRI 4.x/5.x and a TCP/IP stack (Roadshow, AmiTCP, Miami, Genesis),
- or a DCC-EX command station on the serial port (MAX3232 level
shifter between Amiga and Arduino) or over TCP.
Installation and use
--------------------
Unpack anywhere and double-click JMRIController. Enter the host name or
IP address of the JMRI computer, choose the connection type and press
Connect. The AmigaGuide manual (JMRIController.guide, also on the HELP
key) explains every page, the DCC-EX serial cable, the tool types and
the Shell arguments:
JMRIController [HOST <name>] [PORT <n>] [RAW|WEBSOCKET|DCCEX|SERIAL]
[DEVICE <name>] [UNIT <n>] [BAUD <n>] [CONNECT]
[LOCO <address>] [PAGE <n>] [NOPICTURES] [NODATATYPES]

You may copy and pass on JMRI Controller freely, also on CD-ROMs and
other collections, as long as the archive stays complete and unchanged.
This program is freeware. If you enjoy using it and would like to buy me
